General

The home of Monroe D. Halladay, built in 1889 and still standing at 626 E. Chestnut Avenue. Note on photo: This picture is proof that the location of the Halladay residence quoted in Charles Swanner's book,"Santa Ana: a Narrative of Yesterday is incorrect. Charles Swanner states that Mr. M.D. Halladay's residence is located on the corner of First and Halladay Streets in Santa Ana. However, this home is on the southwest corner of Chestnut and Halladay Streets in Santa Ana. Note the street signs says "Chestnut Avenue". This home is still standing as of this date, June 30, 1969.- Stephen Gould. Santa Ana, CA.
