From the Collection:

The collection consists of photographs taken between 1882 and 1953 of various exterior locations primarily in Orange County, California, including Santa Ana, Tustin, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Garden Grove, Orange, San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Hot Springs, and Irvine. There are also photographs of Catalina Island and Riverside. More than half of the photographs date to the period prior to 1900. The collection includes in most cases the glass plate or film negatives used to create the prints.

Looking east from Sycamore Street, showing the south side of the 100 block of West Fourth Street. The First National Bank of Santa Ana, the Bank of America, and Vandermast clothiers are all visible. Business signs for Lorenz Jewelers, Davis Stationers, Hollywood Studios, fabsics, Security First National Bank of Los Angeles, MCCoy Cut Rate Drugs, and Harris and Frank. Across the street are Leeds and Montgomery Ward. Flags with an X line both sides of the street. Many individuals are on the sidewalks and in the street. Vehicles also line the street. Santa Ana, CA.
