Board of Directors minute book, 1939 - 1951
Scope and Contents
The collection spans 1914 to 1983, with the bulk of materials dating from 1914 to 1952, and consists of administrative records, business papers, and artifacts documenting the operations of the Anaheim Citrus Fruit Association (ACFA). Administrative records include two volumes of Board of Directors minute books (1932-1938, 1939-1951) and a stockholder's minute book (1915-1950) that chronicle the organization's governance and decision-making processes.... Business documents comprise annual reports (1925, 1931, 1936, 1941), contracts (1945), circular letters (1919, 1922), and financial records (1919-1922) related to Leonard Hessel.
The collection also contains historical documentation, including writings on the early history of the organization by longtime director J.J. Dwyer (1943), and correspondence from 1983 regarding inquiries about the association. Artifacts include two wrought iron seal embossers of the Anaheim Citrus Fruit Association, examples of 1914 seals, and a crate side with the Colonial Brand label. These materials document the ACFA's operations as part of the citrus industry in Southern California, and marketing under the Sunkist Brand.
