The Local History Collection focuses on the history of Orange County California and the cities within Orange County, Southern California and to a lesser extent California as a whole. All Time periods from 1776-2012 (to date) are covered. The collection includes 3860 cataloged books and pamphlets, correspondence, ephemera, manuscripts, maps, memoribilia. papers, periodicals, posters and photographs.

General

Materials belonging or pertaining to Leo J. Friis (1901-1980), an Anaheim resident and lawyer who served as an Anaheim city attorney and Orange County deputy district attorney. Friis was a member of the Cal State Fullerton Patrons, of the Library, Anaheim Elks Lodge, Masons and the Orange County Historical Society.

Friis published numerous works on Southern California history, and with his son James J. Friis, he founded Friis-Pioneer Press, which published local history books by Friis and other historians.
