The Local History Collection focuses on the history of Orange County California and the cities within Orange County, Southern California and to a lesser extent California as a whole.

The collection includes 3860 cataloged books and pamphlets, correspondence, ephemera, manuscripts, maps, memoribilia, microfilm, papers, periodicals, posters and photographs.

General

Materials belonging to George Gilman Key (1896-1989), a local historian and native of Placentia, California. The George Key Ranch - where he lived most of his life - was purchased by Orange County and has been preserved as a historic house museum. Built in 1893 by Key's father, George B. Key, it is the oldest home still standing in Placentia, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
