Content Description

The Durkee-Blackden Family Correspondence collection spans the years 1771 to 1958, with the bulk of the material concentrated between 1771 and 1873. This collection is housed in two manuscript boxes and consists primarily of correspondence related to military and personal family matters.

It includes thirty items from the American Revolution era (1771–1809), encompassing letters, and a bill of debt and credit.

The Civil War era section (1862–1873) contains ten items, including correspondence and financial records. Additional materials include a ladies' carte de visite, a newspaper clipping from 1916, four letters (one fragmented) from the late 19th and mid-20th centuries, and a handwritten obituary for Mrs. Laura Huntington. This collection provides insight into familial and military experiences across two significant periods in American history.
